India Tsunami Report - February 2005
By Eddie Riepl
The Tsunami hit the coast sending forth a wake of destruction. We saw what was left of the solid structures: walls of buildings had been carried further than 500 meters away! Daily, people are rummaging around the ruins, looking for things that the saltwater has rendered  useless – and every day bodies are still being found in the mud. Survivors tell the heart-wrenching stories of survival and loss; hopelessness is written on their faces. The horror of the situation is indescribable. And yet, in the midst of all this pain, there are testimonies of God’s salvation in the middle of a raging storm! One of the churches we want to be working with, for example, was holding a prayer meeting with 600 members when the tsunami hit. They all ran to the roof, held hands and prayed as the waters hit the wall behind them, split it, but spared only the church building; all who were on the roof were saved! We heard more amazing testimonies of answered prayer.

Fruit that impacts the future
I like to read different books, especially of men and women whose lives have helped shape the world in general, and my life in particular in a positive way. C.S. Lewis helped me when my mother died through his book “A Grief Observed”. Andrew Murray has helped me focus on prayer and holiness in my own life. Norman Grubb influenced my approach to missions with his books on “C.T. Studd” and “Rees Howells, Intercessor”. “The Shepherd of Hermes” pointed me to a life in the Spirit, and Don Basham did a wonderful study on 2 Peter 2 in his book “True and False Prophets” that has left a lasting impression on me. The list could go on, but the one thing all these men have in common with the Bible authors, is that they have all died - yet their influence in my life lives on. They, along with other mentors in my life, including my father and grandfather, have helped shape who I am generations after their lives on earth ceased. I am really grateful for their input.

Adopt A Child
Dear Friends

At 04.00 on Saturday 14th May the Fire Brigade was called to the premises below the Adopt-A-Child offices which had been set on fire by vandals. The fire spread quickly and has totally destroyed our own offices and 99% of everything belonging to AAC, with likelihood that all of the premises may be demolished. There was no loss of life.

We are down, but not out! As I write, we have finished the arduous task of raking through rubble and are preparing to move into a temporary portacabin with what few possessions were salvaged to start over again.
We value your prayer and understanding at this time and ask you to stress to friends and supporters that for the sake of ‘our’ 7,000+ children it is 'business as usual'…… just different!

You may continue to use the usual PO Box number and phone number [now transferred] without problem.

Serving the Servants
Globe Europe cares for 65 missionaries and ministries in 28 different
countries, and we are building towards the future with a goal of 100
missionaries! These missionaries are a special group of servants doing
amazing things with relatively meager means. They bring so much hope
and encouragement, help and love to people who are far from God. They
do it at great sacrifice and personal investment. The do it because
they love God and love the people He created. They care, and they are
worthy of your prayers and financial investment.
