For many years now, we have been mentioning the Balkans as a place that is close to our hearts. In 1998, Gerson lived in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Croatia for a year. His heart was really touched by the people in the Balkans.
A year later, we met, got to know each other, and got married. Since then, God has led us one step at a time to the place he wants us to do ministry. In 2003, we met Reinhold and Astrid Harms for the first time. They were (and still are) leading a church plant project among Roma in Sarajevo (Bosnia). After several visits with them in Bosnia, we realized that we wanted to invest ourselves in this same project, which has both social and spiritual affects on the people.
So, we have made the decision to move to Sarajevo in October of 2007 in order to serve in this church planting project. We want to live among the Roma so that they will recognize the fulfillment and abundant life they can also have through Jesus. We will especially place our focus on the Roma children. |
