At the age of 15, I went on a short term missions trip to South Africa. During this time, God put a deep love for the African people in my heart.
After my professional training as educator, I went to do the School for World Missions and Evangelism at the FCJG in Lüdenscheid, Germany. During this time, I got to know Heidi Baker and her ministry “Iris Ministries” in Mozambique.
In April 2003, I went to Mozambique and worked for 3 years in a children’s village. I also took part in the ministry among people living on the rubbish dumps. I was involved in evangelism and caring for orphans, widows and single mothers in that area.
During this time, I realised among other things, that there is a certain lack on the mission field and in missions organisations. There is a lack of organisational structures and possibilities, follow-up of projects, budgeting, personnel management and many other areas. This experience led me to get further training in this field, while continuing missions work. I am currently doing a college course in “social management” (BA). This course consists of 2 blocks of 3 months theoretical training per year. This way I am able to combine training and missions work. During the practical work experiences I will therefore continue missions work in different places.
How and where I will put the knowledge gained during my studies into practice in the future, is still in God’s hands.
